BOTH SIDES OF THE ODER
Again and again people have to give up the place they are rooted in because of wars or conflicts. Are our parents, Großparents or great-grandmotherßparents also fled, left or were expelled? If yes why? What did they have to experience? Where did she end up? If we lose our home, will we also be lost? What are we holding on to? What stops us?
In view of current discussions about a European attitude towards flight and expulsion, the exhibition attempts to find answers to how foreign countries become home and how new cultural identities emerge there.

An impressive research trip in the border region inspired a concept that refers to the previous search for clues. The design and atmosphere of the room took visitors on a journey on both sides of the Oder. When entering the exhibition room you can hear the rushing and splashing of the Oder River. Meandering, the visitors* move between the light, transparent installations and meet German and Polish contemporary witnesses who talk about their memories.
