ABOUT

In my work as a scenographer, I explore diverse themes and stories. From these, I create a spatial encounter space that engages all the senses and makes the subject matter accessible in a playful and abstract way. The content-based and thus spatial dramaturgy, as well as extensive research, form the basis for the design process. Teamwork and the interplay of different design disciplines, the opinions of team members, as well as the venue and the audience, inspire me and influence the aesthetics and communication.

After graduating from high school with a focus on art, I studied spatial concept and design with Florian Borkenhagen and completed internships and assistantships in stage and costume design at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, working with directors such as Annette Kurz (directed by Luk Perceval) and Stephán Laíme & Kathrin Plath (directed by Jan Bosse). I also realized my own theater and performance works at Kampnagel. During my master's studies in stage design and scenic space, I conceived my first scenic exhibition about the expulsion of Poles and Germans from the West after 1945 and also worked on the curatorial aspect. In my master's thesis, I explored the rehearsal space from a theater studies perspective, researching and documenting the socio-cultural spatial structures generated by different working methods during the rehearsal process. The framework for this work was the production of Julie – Who Owns the Kitchen?, based on the classic novel by August Strindberg, performed in spring 2019 at the Brotfabrik Berlin, and rehearsed at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. Since then I have worked freelance as a scenographer in exhibition design and as a video performer at music events, as well as an assistant at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Münchner Volkstheater and the Münchner Kammerspiele.
